What's new in iBright 1.2.1:
- Fix for toolbar brightness slider
- Enabled/included 32bit and Snow Leopard OS X
In spite of the fact that Apple’s Mac OS X comes with a built-in brightness controller tool, if you have more than one or two displays connected at the same time to your computer, you will find that controlling the brightness settings on all of them can prove to be quite a tedious and time consuming task.
Simple to use brightness manager with support for multiple displays
This is where iBright steps in by helping you either separately fine tune the brightness on each of your displays or by adjusting it on all of them at the same time.
What is more, the low-key iBright app also comes with the capability of helping you synchronize the brightness settings between displays, thus helping you to effortlessly migrate a set of settings on multiple identical monitors instead of wasting your time setting them all up by hand, one at a time.
Uses both the Apple brightness controller and its own inbuilt brightness adjusting engine
In addition, when you use iBright’s menu bar brightness control, it employs the Apple brightness controller but, when you go to its Settings window and adjust the display’s settings using the fine-tune slider control, you will use its own brightness adjusting engine.
Furthermore, iBright allows you to take charge of 3rd party displays, easily customizing their settings so that they fit your needs perfectly.
As an added bonus, you can also use iBright to effortlessly invert the brightness on any display you choose, by simply checking a box.
Bottom line
To sum it all up, iBright is an indispensable tool for any Mac user that works in a multi-display environment and needs to use different or the exact same brightness settings for some or all of them.

Update: the 5 flashes seem to have been a red herring.
Blight (itch) Mac Os X
I replaced the RAM and the keyboard (for good measure) and now the Macbook boots, but the 5 flashes do not appear any more.
The rest of the boot process is as outlined above. Chime, Apple logo + spinning wheel, blue screen, pause... then goes to black screen, and Macbook appears to be in Sleep.
BUT, now if I wake the computer from sleep, it goes to a Blue Screen and remains there.
Mac Os Mojave
It no longer goes to the desktop for 10 seconds, before going black.
Blight (itch) Mac Os X
External monitor continues to work perfectly.
